EMMS Announces Market Week 2017

In the tradition of the Market Day from your childhood, Eastern Market Main Street (EMMS) announces the first annual Market Week. From Sunday, May 14 through Sunday, May 21, EMMS will celebrate and promote the diversity and variety of the commercial corridor surrounding Eastern Market.

Covering 7th street from Pennsylvania to North Carolina Avenues SE, C Street from 6th to 8th Streets SE, and the 600 block of Pennsylvania Avenue SE, EMMS has received the newest Main Street designation from the Department of Small and Local Business Development. The mission of EMMS is to capitalize on our historic assets and entrepreneurial culture to promote and retain our diverse, small businesses through the Main Street Four-Point Approach: Organization, Promotion, Design, and Economic Vitality.

EMMS has ambitious plans in their inaugural year, and first up is Market Week. Designed to showcase the businesses that create the experience of Eastern Market Main Street, Market Week will promote business events, specials, and activities from restaurants, retailers, and services through a Market Week Passport. Visitors and patrons can collect stamps in their Market Week Passport from participating establishments and enter to win prizes.

The week will culminate in an all-day festival and “Night at the Market” event on Sunday, May 21st.

EMMS and Market Week 2017 are generously supported by the Department of Small and Local Business Development and the DC Main Streets Program.
